My mile castles were 38 and 39: Milking Gap, Cragg Lough and Hotbank Farm are all to be found here. It’s one of the most scenic parts of Hadrian’s Wall and due east of Sycamore Gap which draws so many crowds.

I’ve walked it on sunny days and dull and windy ones and the variable edition I’ve produced encompasses the different atmospheres to be found there. The sky is often key to the mood and it plays the dominant part in my image.
