My section is at Walby, a small rural settlement outside Carlisle. It is obviously good farmland with large arable fields and quite grand farmhouses. There are no visible remains and crops or long grass concealed any mounds or depressions that may exist. For my print I decide to use an image of a field adjacent to Sandy Lane.

From this view point I could see through the verdant growth of the hedge, across a field of high grass, to an overgrown hedge on the other side. I thought I could make out a line but I had nothing to corroborate that! I used the reduction method so that I could produce a range of tones and produced my print by gradually cutting the block and printing it in yellow/greens that became darker with each pass through the press.
