Lichen

Medium
Mono-screenprint

Milecastles 44 – 45

I’ve recently been working at Walltown crags country park building a cob oven. The dogs have joined me on occasion and we have had good walks around the area. I was particularly taken with the fossil craft and the massive fossil they found there. What I noticed first was the amount of colours on the lichen that was growing on it… bright orange, white, black, grey and yellow.

Lichen is seen as an indicator of clean air and there is so much around there that there must hardly be any pollution. It’s so peaceful there too, just a lovely place to simply be… My print is screen printed with some monoprinting too. It’s the medium I feel most happy I and I love the process. The prints are hand finished with splatters over masked areas.
